PEACE DOLLARS
April 18, 2012 @ 11:24:08 AM EST
I found a 1934 D Peace Dollar in a higher quality condition for less than $75.00. So I bought it. This wasn't what I wanted, I need a 1934 S but patience and quality is what pay's off in this collection.
Peace Dollars were struck from 1921 until 1935. This ended up leaving 1,006,473 1921 Peace Dollars being released into circulation in 1922. They had a very high relief and were changed in 1922 making them a anomaly that collectors seek. Production stayed high for the next few years and worked their way down until the low of 1928. (1928 P 360,649 coins) There were no Peace Dollars minted in 1929, 1930,1931,1932,1933. 1934 and 1935 were the last two years of Peace Dollar production. Their weren't many put away by collectors and few have survived in higher grades especially 1934 S

Gold, Silver, Ron Paul, coin rolls
March 02, 2012 @ 6:18:42 PM EST
Last blog I speculated on Ron Paul and what would happen to gold and silver if he were our president. I had a chance to talk to some other coin collectors and thier response was the same thing will happen if he loses except our dollar will be useless. I tend to agree. Silver seems to bottom around $34.00 a troy oz. and bounces to around $37.00. Gold seems to have topped $1700.00 for good. Being the type of coin collector I am, I keep buying rolls of silver dimes for $115.00, rolls of quarters for $240.00. silver dollars for $35.00.
These last few months I have bought rolls of wheat penny's some searched some unseached. It's a little like a treasure hunt, looking for low mintage S and D mints. There were rolls I paid $2.25, and others $20.00 and practically everything in between. Out of 10 rolls most were 40s and 50s around a third were 30s and below. After sorting thru all these coins I found a xf 1881 Indian Head for my collection. A excellent 1931D there were only 4,480,000 of them minted. A xf 1926 S there were 4,550,000 minted. A 1910 that looks au, there were over 136,000,000 of them minted but I doubt many are left in this condition. I really did very well in the 1930s as I got several 1934 and 1935 penny's that are in excellent condition, fine or better. In the 1920s I have 10 S mints that are worth adding to my collection. Except for the 1910 the teens are just well circulated. All and all it's like the casino you;ve got to figure some of your money is going for entertainment.
Until my next blog good luck on your coin collections,

Ron Paul
December 27, 2011 @ 1:15:04 PM EST
I wonder why CNN, FOX, MSNBC don't want you to vote for Ron Paul. His domestic policies on free markets, limited government, and government inflating the dollar are excellent. His policies are not more of the same. Ron Paul's foreign policie bring's a tear to my eye, he is so correct, imagine a war we don't pay for. Think about a foreign policy that does'nt cost american live's, foreign live's or piss people off at us, genius!
I want socialized medicine. I want social security for future generations and Ron Paul is pretty tough on government being involved in anything free markets could do. He also believes we have corp. markets now, and not a free market. If I knew how he could fix our health care and how he could be rightous on social security he would be the savor of our American way of life.
I would urge all of you to pay attention to Ron Paul. I am beginning to believe he is the answer to at least half of America's problems and that's better than what we've had the last 30 years.

90% silver coins
October 13, 2011 @ 2:49:46 PM EST

In the last few weeks I have taken advantage of the drop in silver price. I bought 3 lots of silver, 2 lots of 90% silver coins that equal $1.20 each, 1 lot that equals $1.30.That makes a little over 3 oz. of 90% silver. I paid $92.00 all total with shipping. I also purchased a 1879 Indian Head penny, a 1851 large penny and a few rolls of solid date wheat penny's from the teens and 20's.
In my mind the real story is the silver. My silver investments for the last two years are up over 150%. Silver has been under mined the last 20 years to the tune of 50,000 to 100,000 oz. a year. In bad economic times silver becomes a hedge against inflation, the silver itself never goes to zero worth, and should go up. In good times industry booms and silver demands go up. The price should follow as supply's go down. I can see silver as a great investment no matter what happens.
The difference between silver and gold is just how much you have to invest. Silver coins are one of the best investments for the working poor. Two years ago a working man put $1000.00 in a savings account, today he would have less than $1002.00. The same working man that bought $1000.00 of pre 1965 90% us coins would have around $2500.00. You can see why I buy silver coins. You should buy physical silver that you hold in your hand. Bolt a safe to the floor and put your coins in it. When you need money sell it thru ebay or such an keep it below $5000.00 for tax purposes.
I hope this helps some of you to decide on buying some pre 1965 90% silver coins before the price goes up to high. Until my next blog good luck on your coin collections.

1873 S Gold Quarter Eagle
September 08, 2011 @ 11:38:21 AM EST

Curtsey Quick Coinage Facts
Quick Coinage Facts
Years Minted: 1840-1907
Mints: Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dahlonega, New Orleans, San Francisco
Composition: 0.900 gold, 0.100 copper
Diameter: 18 mm Weight: 4.18 grams (.12094 gold ounces)
Edge: Reeded
I finally found what I consider a good deal on a US Gold coin. Since my last blog, I've purchased a 1873 S Gold Quarter Eagle coin for $250.00. It was the S mint that got me. I know S mint marks on Quarter Eagles mean lower mintage, as it turns out only 27,000 were minted. My first US gold Quarter Eagle coin has a great collector value and over a 10th oz. of gold.
I know what your thinking, the math means I'm paying a little under $2500.00 a oz. Listen you Carpathians it is a rare vf+ US Gold coin an anyway Gold will soon be over $2500.00 a oz. President Obama probably can't save our economy and 30 yrs of republican control put us here. Capitalist control our economy an the one thing they should truly understand is good old American Gold coins. If you don't believe me check your 401K and tell me that's not a yo-yo, some hedge fund managers with more capital then the US TREASURY is pulling that string. I digress!
The picture I have is of a 1879, they're basically the same except for a small S under the claw on the Eagle. I have some light wear on Lady Liberty's hair and some wear appears on the Eagles wings. Liberty is nice and bold on her hair ribbon, their is nice detail in the curl under her ear. That's why I believe it's vf+ Gold Quarter Eagle's are more in my price range and I seem to be bitten by a Gold bug so I am saving again for my next buy. Gold wasn't the only coins I bought since my last blog. I also bought a 1851 large cent and 2 rolls of unsearched wheat penny's. I got good deals on these also. But most deals seem to pale compared to a righteous deal on a gold coin. Well until my next blog good luck on your coin collections.
